My Passion
In the mid ‘70’s I had a simple understanding of my need for grace and forgiveness. So I simply asked Jesus to come into my heart and forgive me of all my sins. Later in my teenage years things became a little edgy in my relationship with God, it was not until college that God captured my heart. In 1994 I knew God had put a passion to serve Him in my heart. From that time till about 1999 I searched for a specific call from the Lord. I and others soon began to recognize that God was calling me to Pastor. But God Said Wait in 2001 and Emma Grace became a part of our lives that year. My wife, who has battled brain cancer herself, tells it best:
“Emma Grace is our third child, and our miracle baby. She was born in congestive heart failure and received a heart transplant at the age of 5 months old. The first 5 months of her life were spent in ICU on life support. I have never been closer to God as I was during those 5 months- and still today knowing the odds of her future, I can honestly say that she has been firmly placed in the center of the palm of the Lord. Her originally chosen name was Emma Mackenzie but once we found out in utero about her heart condition, we named her Emma Grace, because we believed Gods grace would be sufficient- no matter what we faced with her future. Today she is a 7 year old ball of energy who also happens to be Autistic; she loves her autism school almost as much as she loves Barney. She has taught our family more in her short life than most will ever learn.
In the past 7 years, our family has grown in ways that I can’t describe. The Lord has given strength when we had none, and blessed in ways that are unimaginable. As a result, the ministry that we have been able to lead given our circumstances has been amazing. Christ has used what some would say is a heartbreaking story to glorify Him in every way. Our desire, as a couple, is to use this testimony as well as the calling He has put on our hearts to minister in a way that will bring life and joy to others in a ministry capacity.”
As I continue to serve Him with passion, the Lord has allowed me to see the vision for the future church. Many churches today are on life support, continuing to meet the inward mission of the church, but not able to transport that to the community around them. I believe the church is becoming less and less relevant to the American culture, therefore, they’re not coming to us anymore. I believe we need to seek the Father on how to bring the Gospel to the communities in a natural way, in order to impact them. In other words, take the blessings of God to the street.
I hope that my blog blesses your heart and leaves you longing for a deeper relationship with the one true God.
Keep Pressing On,
Mark George
